Course Description

Schools across the nation are witnessing the benefits of a flipped classroom. If this model is successful for our students, doesn't it make sense that it would be successful for the adults in educational learning circles as well? This iTunes U course is designed to demonstrate some methods for flipping the traditional PD model in schools. Through this course I hope to share why schools should look at a new model for providing learning opportunities for teachers as well as some tools and real life examples for changing the way we teach our teachers.

The time has never been better for looking at professional development through a new lens.  We’ve observed significant advances in wireless technology and mobile devices like the iPad are transforming the way that people live and work. Schools have a responsibility to be at the forefront of these changes because, after all, we are the ones charged with the task of preparing children for the world they will enter.

Educational leaders all wish to see increased collaboration amongst teachers, but often don't create an environment where collaboration can occur. What we do is too important to leave adult professional learning to old outdated models. The possibilities for flipping PD have never been greater. Lets join our students in the post PC era by transforming the way we learn, connect, and collaborate through flipping professional development in our schools.
